FIRESTOP PANELS
(PIR & MFE) and (SDMFE)

Our Firestop Panels utilise a combination of two-core types polyisocyanurate and mineral fibre.

The mineral fibre is situated at both longitudinal joint edges, and the centre of the panel is finished using PIR Slab infills. The joint system on composite panels in respect of fire attack is generally the weakest area. The use of non-combustible mineral fibre at the joint edge means that in the event of a fire the joint will retain its shape and therefore desist the impingement of flame for a greater period of time compared to that of a non - mineral fibre panel.

The mineral fibre insert also prevents unseen fire spreading within the core to adjacent panels preventing wider fire damage.

IDEAL FOR

Firestop Panel is often used as alternative ceiling panel, choice to Mineral Wool where specifiers have concerns regarding weight and durability in service.

Other benefits of this ‘hybrid’ core are lighter weight panels, compared to Mineral Wool excellent thermal performance.

A greater resistance level to foot traffic on ceiling panels is also an advantage.
Isoclad can also produce Firestop panels (SDMFE) panels utilising polystyrene in lieu of polyisocyanurate, the benefit here being lower cost.

MINERAL FIBRE (MF)

Mineral rock fibre insulant actually comprises mineral rock fibres bonded together with varying proportions of thermo-setting resins to form the insulant materials.
The product is created by the verification of a mixture of volcanic stone, coke and limestone at a temperature in excess of 1500oC.The molten material is spun into a wool which is then impregnated using a urea extended phenol formaldehyde resin which locks the fibres together and form the insulant material.
Typically Isoclad manufacture using ‘staggered brick built’ Rockwool Conrock sheets 2.0m x 600 x varying thickness range, to suit application.
Grade MF10 has a nominal density of 100kg and is suitable for low to medium height walls.
Grade MF12 has a higher density (nominally 125kg) and is more suited to longer wall spans or for ceiling panels.

IDEAL FOR

The chief benefits of Isoclad MF panels are there superior fire ratings/non-combustibility and hence suitability for high-risk locations such as cooking facilities, ovens, plant rooms, packaging storage, chemical stores etc.
Mineral Fibre panels also make an excellent fast track and clean alternative to traditional block and brick constructed compartmentalized fire walls used to sub-divide factory’s/units, stair wells etc
